Metallica: "If Darkness Had a Son"

Metallica's upcoming 11th studio album 72 Seasons has a release date coming very soon on April 14, 2023. The band has now released three songs from the album, and the seven-minute epic "If Darkness Had a Son" features the first writing credit for Kirk Hammett on a Metallica album since 2011, having co-composed the tune along with James Hetfield and Lars Urich. It's not always easy to see the details in this stylized video treatment, but our eagle eyes at ESP have noted James using an ESP Custom Shop version of his ESP Snakebyte guitar in a snakeskin finish that was hand-burned via pyrography by artist Dino Muradian. Kirk seems to be playing an old favorite: the ESP KH-2 Neck Thru Body. You can order 72 Seasons from Metallica right now.
