The Hu
When the influences of multiple cultures come together to form sounds that are entirely new, it often produces some of the coolest music of an era. That’s the case with The Hu, a band from Mongolia that combines traditional instrumentation and throat singing with contemporary music structures. Those come via guitarist Jamba and bass player Davaa, both members of the ESP artist family. Next to their bandmates who use ancient Mongolian instruments like the Morin khuur and tovshuur, Jamba rocks an ESP E-II Eclipse, while Davaa plays a 5-string ESP E-II bass, both with customized graphic finishes. The Hu’s most recent album, Rumble of Thunder, came out in 2022, and you can see them live during some Knotfest dates in spring 2024.
