About Me:

JIM BARRAZA

Guitarist - CIRITH UNGOL

Jim was born 11-29-1966 in Ventura, California. He started playing guitar at the age of 13.

Early in his career he played in several bands including; The Blue River Band '80-'83, Trauma 1984, Teaser 1984-85, The David Paul Band 1985, Prophecy 1986-'87, Cirith Ungol '87-'91, Thought Criminals 1994, and he appeared in the Jefferson Starship’s 1985 video “We Built This City on Rock & Roll”!

He rejoined "Cirith Ungol" for their historic reunion in 2015, which saw headlining appearances across the globe. In 2018 The band released the single "Witch's Game" for the upcoming animated movie "The Planet of Doom". A full-length album “Forever Black” in 2020 which was picked as the #1 heavy metal album of 2020 by many magazines, critics, and websites, and the 4-song ep “Half Past Human” in 2021, all on Metal Blade Records.

He has played many guitars over the years but his love for his 2015 LTD Viper 256 which he heavily customized, was the beginning of his relationship with ESP guitars. He currently plays;

ESP/Ltd 2020 Viper-1000 Tiger Eye Sunburst

ESP/Ltd 2021 Viper-Volsung distressed Black.

Currently working on a new "Cirith Ungol" album, and booked at major festivals and shows around the world in 2022, Jimmy is excited to get back on the road and make these ESP guitars scream!
