ENGL Amp Spotlight: Savage 120 Mark II E610II

You know the saying, "Go big or go home"? They may have been referring to the ENGL Savage 120 Mark II E610II, an all-tube amplifier head with the power and flexibility that leaves nearly any other amp in the world in the dust.

The Savage 120 Mark II E610II is one of the most powerful designs from ENGL's iconic creator Horst Langer. It has four channels: Clean, Crunch I, Crunch II, Lead. These are driven by six ECC83/12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6550 power tubes, giving you 120 watts of insanely raw power. But that's just the start. It has a freshly-voiced 3-band EQ that includes Lean/Bold circuits for two entirely different mids characters. This redesign also includes a new Gain Lo/Hi circuit, where the Clean channel becomes “Crunch” in “Hi” mode, and the Lead channel gets even fatter and heavier. This head also offers advanced features needed in professional amplification like its MIDI In and Thru ports, and a finely tuned and sensitive-responding noise gate that works perfectly even with extreme high-gain settings.

With its four channels, tons of sound-shaping features, and truly thunderous tones, the Savage Mark II the perfect sound center for a modern guitar rig. No amp simulation or in-the-box sound will bring the thunder like this beast!

That is one incredible amp...! Gimme, gimme, gimme  ... I've played on it at one of the local guitar shops over here and damn, does it ever sound tight. Plenty of gain as well. Crunch could sometimes use a little bit of boost with a Tube Screamer, but the Lead channel on the other hand is meaty af (no boost needed).

How does this amplifier compares to the other amplifiers out there?
