Seth M.

Just recently became an owner of this beast. And I was wondering what a good replacement aftermarket bridge would be? If you don’t know what are the dimensions of the bridge? Thanks!

Carl N.

Hey Seth, glad you're enjoying it.  Bridge should be 103mm by 53.5mm it would be wise to measure the bridge from your instrument in case this differs slightly.  Gotoh and Hipshot both make great bridges you can use to replace this one.

Anthony L.

Hi! I recently bought this bass and it worked at first and then all of a sudden stopped playing sound. I flipped all the knobs and everything! I was wondering if maybe changing the battery would fix this?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Anthony, sorry for the late reply to your question. Yes that is what I would recommend first. Since your system uses a battery, if it dies or becomes too low in power you will have no output to the amp. One thing to keep in mind with active systems: when you aren't using your bass, make sure you unplug the cable. If you leave the cable plugged in, it will drain the battery. If you need further assistance please contact our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com

Nattawat C.

I was just wondering that can I replace bridge with 18mm spacing bridge without neck problem?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Nattawat, Our current string spacing at bridge is 16mm. If you change to 18, your string spread might be a little too wide for the neck.

Ken W.

Hi!! I was just wondering what the weight is for the B-206 and how does it compare to the D series ( six string) are they the same weight? Thanks so much!!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ken, the B-206 is approximately 10 lbs and the D-6 is about 10.6lbs. Both are similar, maybe the B-206 is more comfortable and slightly lighter. Same outer shape (perimeter) but different contours.

Chris H.

Could you confirm the ideal string height at the 17th fret for each string please?  I'm assuming 4/64" for the B and 3/64" for everything else?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Chris, This depends on your playing style and touch. Each player has a different touch or feel so adjustments may be necessary based on those factors as well as string gauge and tuning. For a 6 string bass, our standard string height measured at the 12th fret is 1/8" (3.2mm) at the B string and 5/64" (2.0mm) at the high C string. It sounds like you are looking for low action. That is possible if you set the neck very straight and play with a light touch. Remember that fret buzz heard acoustically is not an issue, but you typically don't want to hear the fret buzz through the amp (unless that is the sound you are going for).

Casey K.

Hello, would a set of 32 - 130 strings would be too heavy for standard tuning on this bass?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Casey, This set would be fine. It's a little heavier than what comes on the bass, but will work fine. Since there will be more tension on the neck we recommend you adjust the truss rod and bridge & nut slots as necessary.

RJD

I recently put Ernie Ball #2838 32-45-65-80-100-130 on and they work great. I had my luthier build me a custom bone nut so everything fits perfectly.

Todd B. ESP

HI RJD, That sounds like a great upgrade, thanks for sharing it here.

Stéfan P.

Hi,

I just spent a couple hrs looking for a replacement black nickel machine head for the B String of my B206SM.... not an easy thing to find. Can I get one from you ?

Otherwise, I love it.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Stefan, Where do you live? Are you in the US or in another country? I would suggest to email our customer service team and explain your issue. It might be possible that either we (USA team) or international distributor can help you find the part you need.

Jason B.

Can you tell me a few more specs on the neck?  Things I'm looking for are width at nut, string spacing at bridge, neck thickness would work too if you have that.  Thanks.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Jason, Sorry for the late reply. Here are the specs you requested. Nut width: 54mm / End of neck width: 84mm / Thickness @1F: 20.5mm / Thickness @ 12F: 22.5mm / String to String spacing at bridge: 16mm

Ask about the possibility to Cleartone for Strings in this habilty ,

but donˋt know what to do !

Todd B. ESP

Hi Heinz, Wow. Glad to hear you get a lot of use out of your bass. And interesting about the strings. Those are very heavy gauges!

RJD

Todd,

I will be swapping out the strings in the near future and am looking at the D'Addario NYXL 32-45-65-80-100-130 super long. Can you find out if a .130 B string will fit through the string hole in the bridge? I don't want to drill or modify anything.

I'm also looking at a La Bella set with 29-45-65-85-105-128.

Thanks!

Todd B. ESP

Hi RJD, I believe you already got your answer from our customer service team but I also wanted to let you know here. We confirmed that the .130 B string will fit through the hole in the bridge.

Tony Steven

Is it possible to make a lighter weight 6 string bass ?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Tony, Yes it is possible however the body and neck size on a 6 string bass is larger than a 4 or 5 string so it is naturally predisposed to being heavier. Something like a swamp ash or alder body might be able to reduce the weight, but that would be much more expensive. We used to make an RB-1006 model which was really light. It's not currently being produced but you might be able to find one used or still new at a dealer. It is much higher price than the B-206.

RJD

I recently picked up the B-206SM and love it. I am considering changing the knobs. Could you tell me what size and type the volume, balance, & eq knobs are? Are the pots solid shaft or split shaft? I'm looking at parts sources and don't know what to get. Thank you.

Todd B. ESP

Hi RJD, All the knobs are split shaft and they are a standard size for import style pots. You can install any type of dome knob or plastic push on knob.

RJD

Ok, very cool. I've order some Q-parts Natural Abalone Knobs with pearl black finish to go with the black nickel.

Todd B. ESP

Hi RJD, Great!
