LTD Deluxe basses are designed to offer the tone, feel, looks, and quality that working professional musicians require in an instrument, while remaining affordable enough for serious players. The Phoenix-1004 is a bass we offered previously and is back by popular demand. This bass is stunning with its 34” scale neck-thru-body design, using a five-piece mahogany/walnut neck that has a satin finish on the back for smooth playability, along with mahogany body wings, and a Macassar ebony fingerboard with 21 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets and ESP flag inlays. Other highlights of the Phoenix-1004 include its reverse headstock, LTD vintage tuners, Gotoh 201B-4 bridge, and a set of outstanding EMG 35P4 and EMG 35J pickups.

I have had to send two back due to the tuners being faulty. When I detuned, the tuning key would go completely loose, like it was broken, then the slack would snap back to the tension.

I play the older version of this, (Phoenix 204,) in my band Hrönn, and it's incredible!.. I upgraded the pickups to EMG PJ before this version came out, (must have been on to something there!)

Looking forward to getting my hands on one of these, soon!

I have taken one of these out on multiple tours now. Sounds amazing, but could be engineered to handle lower tunings with more stability. With 135's in drop A, even when set up professionally, it struggles to hold tune for long and the intonation is difficult. Should these get an updated design in the future, pls think of us lower tuning players!

I would try Solar for drop A. They have at least 2 bass models for lower tunings on a 4-string.  I personally own this model and keep it in drop c with no problem.

Got a used phoenix and was amazed by the quality and tone.  The guitar player in my new band is endorsed by ESP and he said that I really need to check them out.  I've had an Edwards before and it was really high quality, so I had something to compare it to.

The inlays, fretboard and neck are just great and way better of a deal than the Gibby Tbird.  I usually don't use 4 strings anymore,  but this will be used onstage.

I'm going to try the one with the Fishman fluence pickups, just wish there was a 5 string version. Way easier on the hands and wrist.

Bought one of these Basses and love the hell of it.... I've owned Gibson Thunder bird, and Gibson has has no competition over it....
