FADED BLUE SUNBURST
Javier Reyes is one of the most innovative guitarists in progressive rock today. He consistently pushes the boundaries of how the electric guitar can be approached in his band Animals As Leaders and in his solo work. A master of the 8-string guitar, Javier had detailed input into the creation of the LTD Signature Series JR-608. This combination of eight strings with a five-piece walnut/maple/padauk neck-thru-body design at 27” baritone scale allows you to explore a huge range of pitch on a single instrument. its features also include Graphtec Black Tusq nut, a Macassar ebony fingerboard with a custom inlay pattern, and glow in the dark side markers. It offers a swamp ash body with the resulting articulate sound, along with a figured quilted maple top. Top-tier components on the JR-608 include a Hipshot bridge with string-thru-body setup, and a set of Javier’s new Fishman Javier Reyes Open Core Signature Pickups, with a mini-switch to engage it’s multiple voicings. Available in Faded Blue Sunburst finish.
I have D’Addario nyxl 009, .011, .016, .026, .036, .046 set up on the 1-6th string. And a .60 and .70 on 7th and 8th (8th tuned to E). Currently the 8th string isn’t resonating and sounds dead even though it’s a brand new strings. What could be the issue with the 8th string?Should I increase/decrease string gauge?

I noticed it comes with .009-.072" strings. I just purchased one of these and will be doing some drop E stuff at times. I don't think the .072" will cut it at that low a tuning (either on intonation or tension). Will the nut be able to take a 0.076 or 0.080"? I'm trying to not have to make a trip all the way to my tech just for this unless absolutely necessary!
