Malay national soccer team hit by acid attack, striker who scored against Korea

Faisal Halim scored a goal against Korea

Malaysian national soccer team striker Faisal Halim suffered an acid attack on the street.

Hong Kong media outlet 'South China Morning Post' reported on the 6th (Korean time) that "Halim suffered second-degree burns on his neck, shoulders, hands, and chest in a surprise acid attack near Kuala Lumpur." The suspect is currently under arrest.

Halim is a player who left a strong impression by scoring an equalizing goal against Korea in the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.

This is not the first time the Malaysian national team has suffered damage. Three days ago, another national team member, Akhyar Rashid, was hospitalized after being beaten by unidentified suspects in front of his home.

For this reason, some are concerned about the possibility of serial attacks targeting the Malaysian national team.

“I am angry and saddened,” Football Association of Malaysia president Mohammad Amin said in a statement. “Malaysians will pray that Akhyar and Halim recover quickly and get back on the field,” he said.

Malaysia will play the 5th and 6th matches of Group D of the 2026 FIFA North and Central America World Cup Asia 2nd qualifying round against Kyrgyzstan on June 6 and Chinese Taipei on the 11th. 고스톱사이트
