New Deftones Album 'Ohms' Announced... Check Out the First Song
Believe it or not, four years have gone by since the last new album by alt-metal icons Deftones. The new album, titled Ohms, is scheduled for release on September 25 via Warner Music, and the band has released the title track as the first single, which you can check out below.
As most ESP players are well aware, Deftones guitarist and co-founder Stephen Carpenter has been part of the ESP artist family for a very long time, going back almost 25 years since he first started playing our guitars. Stephen is tremendously influential as a guitarist, with thousands of players who've been inspired by his textured sounds that often stem from guitars with extended range. That's certainly the case in the new song "Ohms", where Stef is playing one of his many legendary guitars created the ESP Custom Shop in Japan. This custom guitar, a one-off built to Stef's specifications, has nine strings. Yes, nine.
Will Stef's 9-string monster become available for people to purchase and own? At the moment, we have no plans to announce such a beast of a guitar, but like all things at ESP, nothing is impossible and you never know what the future might hold. Meanwhile, Stef's ESP and LTD Signature Series guitars include outstanding and popular 6-, 7-, and 8-string models like the LTD SC-607 Baritone, the ESP Stef-B8, the LTD SC-20, and several others.
Ohms was produced by Terry Date, who worked with the band in their early days and produced such landmark Deftones records as White Pony, Around the Fur, Adrenaline, and more. Be on the lookout for the new album (which you can pre-add here), and we're sure it will feature many more examples of Stephen Carpenter's innovative tone building and guitar playing.
Wait, who wrote the lyrics? This is just dope! The visual effects are out of this world and Stephen never fails to impress with his guitar. I'm from Lacombe and was wondering who else is buying Ohms?
